Design Studio 1

Project 1- Self Expression Through Artwork- Representing Me
We are required to generate design concept through the process of exploring various sources and abstracting ideas. Through the effective design process to show the abstract art from how well do you know the level of understanding yourself.
Our final product consist of an abstract art together along with an a3 panel of explanation. From this assignment, I've understood more about the design process and also learned how to generate concepts and ideas from brainstorming.
Idea generation and conceptual narratives are a big part of the design process.
IT'S ALL ABOUT UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF.

Project 2- Temporary Shelter
For this assignment, we were placed into groups of 8 to design a temporary shelter for a person.
Firstly, we had to brainstorm on a person's personality and needs so that we can design the space according to the person's needs. Other than that, we were required to research on human anthropometry and ergonomics so that we can design a space that is fully functional and comfortable for the human.

Our shelter was based on a person who likes to read. We designed a space that is suitable for a person to read in and also has various positions for reading. After designing the form and function of the space, we were required to build a full scale model according to our orthographic drawings..

I've managed to learn a lot from this assignment. It has taught me the importance of anthropometry and ergonomics a space needs and also how to generate ideas based on a concept. Moreover, I've learned model making skills by building a full scale timber model with my group mates. It has also taught me the importance of teamwork in working on a big scale project.

My Dreamspace- The Sailman
This assignment incorporates all the skills that we've gained from Project 1 & 2.

For this final project, we are asked to design a dreamspace for ourselves based on our own personalities and needs. Our given site was between two cliffs : one 12 meters high and the other 15 meters high. We are required to design a shelter that has 2-3 spaces that conforms to both the physical and non-physical requirements of the user.

I biring out a narrative about myself who is an ordinary boy with solitary personalities but want to learn something out o the comfort zone. I want to prove although shy also can be outspoken and be adaptable to various or new strange environment.

For our final product we were required to submit 1 panel of A2 board containing our narratives and design process and another 3 panels of A2 boards to show our drawings ( Orthographics and Perspectives). Other than that, we were also required to build a 1:50 scale model according to our drawings.

From this assignment, I've managed to learn how to generate design concepts through the process of exploring various sources and abstracting ideas.I also managed to identify the key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they inform space and form. Moreover, I've understood better on how the space affects the experience of the user and also managed to learn how to manage my time well so that i am able to finish everything on time.
